Push plot

Ruptured amniotic sacs, babies in breech position, premature contractions: for midwives Nalan, Anna and Greta, the emergency is the order of the day. As if everyday life wasn't exciting enough, they are also confronted with a lawsuit: a few months ago, a medical error was allegedly made during a birth - a child was diagnosed with brain damage. Nalan has to constantly push her boundaries anyway: Although she experiences the magical moment of being able to lay a newborn baby in the arms of new parents every day, her own wish for a child has remained unfulfilled for a long time.

Push season 1

Push is not the first hospital series set in and around the maternity ward. After the British series This is Going to Hurt, Call the Midwife and Maternal, and the Dutch Dag & Nacht (based on the Danish model, 2nd season in the making), there is now the German Push. Creator/scriptwriter Luisa Hardenberg previously co-wrote 30 episodes of Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten. That shows a little; Push is also quite soapy at times. But fortunately much more than that.

The dramatic developments and the private concerns of the characters in the Berlin hospital follow each other in rapid succession. Filmed realistically and without embellishment, the beautiful and ugly life events are presented to the viewer in a fairly in-your-face way. In Push, there is no social indictment of overload and understaffing in healthcare. In fact, mother and child are pampered in this German hospital - with attention and time - even care at home. The fresh actors give credible shape to it. In short: the level of Maternal and Day & Night is not reached, but Push was an excellent experience.
