Pørni plot
Pørni has two daughters and a jerk from an ex who has moved to Copenhagen and mainly focuses on himself. She has a father who is in some sort of teenage phase, and she is responsible for her 15-year-old nephew, after her sister died in a car accident not too long ago. In addition, Pørni works in child protection, where she likes the district attorney Bjørnar. She wants to be a complete person, in a normal, but challenging life.

The six-part Norwegian comedy-drama Pørni is about real-life characters. Pørni (Henriette Steenstrup, also creator and screenwriter) works for Child Protection and is a single mother with teenage children. Just like the Swedish Bonusfamiljen, Pørni is an authentic story about everyday events. With well-known actors such as Agnes Kittelsen (Exit, Mellem Os) and Henrik Mestad (Furia, Okkupert), the acting is excellent. At most, Steenstrup herself looks a bit out of place due to her outspoken facial expressions. A minor point. Pørni is a fresh series that may not dig very deep, but tells lively stories.

Feel-good with a raw social-realist edge. Or as Pørni (Henriette Steenstrup) experiences the most intense things at her job in Norwegian youth care. Yet, ultimately, it's family and love that cause her the most worry. I thoroughly enjoyed the intimate moments when Pørni retreats to her garage to smoke weed with her father or drink wine with lawyer Bjørnar. It's also nice to see real children for once, so incredibly annoying and desperately seeking direction. And all the while, Pørni herself is struggling with her insecurities, fears, and gentle nature.
