Recently divorced surgeon Toby Fleishman plunges into the world of app-based dating and is more successful than he's ever been. When his ex-wife Rachel disappears, he is left with their children and has no idea where she is or if she ever plans to return. Balancing parenthood, friends, a much-anticipated promotion at the hospital, and all the suitable women Manhattan has to offer, he realizes he'll never be able to figure out what happened to Rachel until he learns the truth behind their marital problems.

Fleischman is in Trouble vertelt een deel van de midlife-levensgeschiedenis van Toby Fleischman (Jesse Eisenberg) en zijn twee joodse vrienden Libby (Lizzy Caplan) en Seth (Adam Brody). Wat begint als een vluchtige en oppervlakkige comedy, ontwikkelt zich gaandeweg tot een interessante dramady. Fleischman is in Trouble gaat over relaties, vriendschap, ouder worden en zingeving. Vergelijk het met een filosofische versie van Scenes from a Marriage. De slotafleveringen zijn krachtig en spectaculair, met subliem acteerwerk van Claire Danes (Homeland) als Toby's echtgenoot. Fijne originele serie die speelt met je verwachtingen en vooroordelen. Naar het boek van Taffy Brodesser-Akner.

What starts as a fleeting and superficial comedy gradually develops into an interesting dramady. Fleischman is in Trouble is about relationships, friendship, aging and meaning. Compare it to a philosophical version of Scenes from a Marriage. The closing episodes are powerful and spectacular, with superb acting from Claire Danes (Homeland) as Toby's husband. Fine original series that plays with your expectations and prejudices. Based on the book by Taffy Brodesser-Akner.
