The Dark Wizard plot
Portrait of Dean Potter, the world's most influential and controversial mountaineer, base jumper, and highline walker. The series follows the achievements that made him a legend, as well as the personal struggles that marked his life. From a young age, Dean wrestled with inner demons that led him to explore the limits of human capability. Climbing became his outlet, and Yosemite National Park the canvas for his unique talent and artistic expression. While his achievements on El Capitan and Half Dome elevated him to hero status in the world of adventure sports, his mental state began to falter, and his fierce competitive drive drove him to surpass himself and others, including rising star Alex Honnold.

Exciting four-part American HBO documentary about the life of free-solo climber Dean Potter. In a manic quest for ever-new challenges, we see Potter as a fatalistic adrenaline junkie. Surrounded by admirers, disciples, idiots, and opportunists, Potter becomes entangled in doubts, scandals, and mental health issues. The Dark Wizard is a balanced and excellent series about a world that is barely comprehensible.
