Once upon a Time in Iraq plot

When the war with the US started, many Iraqis were hopeful. It turned out differently. The infamous leader Saddam Hussein lost out and was eventually captured. But when America left Iraq, ISIS emerged to take over large parts of the country. Thus, the US had to face a cruel legacy of the 2003 invasion. Featuring unique personal archives of civilians and soldiers from both sides of the conflict, this series brings viewers closer to the realities of war and life under ISIS than they have ever been before.

A picture of the events in Iraq after the invasion by the US and its buddies in 2003. Not from a political perspective, but seen through the eyes of bystanders, soldiers and through the eyes of the people who suffered it.

I'm having a hard time finding the right words for this documentary. Penetrating, staggering, degrading and shameful are perhaps the closest.
