Het Zaad van Karbaat plot

The three-part documentary series The seed of Karbaat tells the incredible story of the late doctor Jan Karbaat, who inseminated his patients with his own sperm in more than 65 cases. The news that Jan Karbaat was using his own seed to inseminate his patients shocked the world. The seed of Karbaat tells how that could happen. In addition, it also shows how Karbaat worked and how he assaulted and sexually intimidated patients. Though this is just the tip of the iceberg; mothers, descendants and those involved have to learn to live with the emotional trauma of a changed genetic lineage. Through Karbaat's story, the series explores the nature vs. nurture debate, the desire for immortality and the moral issues surrounding anonymous donorship.

Hele goede docu, alle 3 de delen verslonden. Nu had dat voor mij ook een persoonlijke reden. Mijn nichtje is 1 van de kinderen, ook te zien in de serie.❤Dat maakt het voor mij nog aparter. Terwijl het al een bizar verhaal is an sich natuurlijk. Maar los van alles, ik had dit sowieso reuze interessant gevonden. Zit heel sterk ook in elkaar. Alle afleveringen blijven enorm boeien. De moeder van mijn nichtje heeft gelukkig behalve de misleiding geen nare ervaringen met de arts zelf. Zij was niet te zien overigens, maar dat heb ik na het zien van de serie wel even gevraagd. Dat was nieuw voor mij dat hij bij sommige vrouwen zo enorm ver ging. Heel apart ook om al die gelijkenissen bij die andere broers en zussen te zien. Ik ga hem binnenkort nog eens overnieuw kijken. Ik dacht vroeger altijd dat wij allebei blond haar hadden omdat we genetisch verwant waren, maar dat heeft ze toch echt van Korbaat. Ik wist al wel vanaf de middelbare school ergens dat ze een donorvader had. En enkele jaren terug hoorde ik dan zo ongeveer hoe het echt zat. Dus verder geen verassingen al heb ik toch echt verwonderd gekeken alsnog.

Very good documentary, devoured all 3 parts.

Now that also had a personal reason for me. My niece is one of the children, also seen in the series. That makes it even more special for me. While it is already a bizarre story in itself of course.

But other than that, I would have found this very interesting anyway. Also very strong. All episodes are very interesting.

Fortunately, my niece's mother has not had any bad experiences with the doctor herself, except for the deception. She was not to be seen, by the way, but I did ask that after seeing the series. That was new to me that he went so far with some women.

Very strange to see all those similarities in those other brothers and sisters. I'll be watching it again soon.

I used to think we both had blond hair because we were genetically related, but she really got that from Korbaat. I knew from high school somewhere that she had a donor father. And a few years ago I heard about what it really was. So no further surprises, although I still looked really surprised.

Zeer interessante documentairereeks. Soms denk ik dat ik onder een steen leef, want ik heb dit bizarre verhaal nooit echt in het nieuws meegekregen. Zoals aangegeven is vooral het tempo erg fijn. Niet zo bombastisch als veel van dit soort andere documentaires. Allemaal vrij respectvol en vanuit verschillende perspectieven benaderd. De laatste aflevering was interessant maar paste iets minder bij de rest.

Very interesting documentary series. Sometimes I think I'm living under a rock, because I never really got this bizarre story in the news. As mentioned, the pace is especially nice. Not as bombastic as many of these other documentaries. All quite respectful and approached from different perspectives. The last episode was interesting but a little less in tune with the rest.

Haha wat een verhaal joh. Wat een psychos eigenlijk deze gasten. Wel een mooi onderwerp voor zo'n mini-serie docu. Veel beter dan de zoveelste docu over een onopgeloste moord of iets dergelijks.

Haha what a story dude.

What a psychos these guys are. A nice subject for such a mini-series documentary.

Much better than another documentary about an unsolved murder or something like that.
