I thought this was earlier, in '90 or '91 or something. At least, the period when the case came to light and the excavations took place. Or am I confusing Mira Hyndley and Ian Brady? No, that was the sixties. It could also be because of that book by Fred West's oldest daughter that I was reading at the time, Out of the Shadows/House of Fear, which came out very soon after the discovery and trial: 1995.
Doesn't matter, it was one of the most notorious murder cases of the 'neighties'.
Actually, the documentary doesn't say much: a lot of home videos of the couple. What is striking is how small Fred West was. Fred West riding around on a bike, it is so banal (a serial killer on a bike) that it just becomes absurd again.
Did Rose know? It just won't come out right.

It is important that judges in certain murder cases visit the scene of a crime themselves to see with their own eyes how or what. Peter R. de Vries also said that in one of his episodes of his crime program, I happened to see that recently.
Because such a 'view' clarifies matters much more and makes everything more three-dimensional. In the past, this was done more often - I think - often with the perpetrator present, although it still happens now: Jos B, for example, who returned to the place where Verstappen was found in '20 together with the judges.
It's remarkable how old-fashioned 1994 already looks. A police uniform and headgear, for example, look like something from the fifties.
