Plezierige reisreeks, met een filosofisch en cultuurkritisch tintje. Het concept van 'het Avondland' dient meer als een motivatie voor Jan Leyers om exotische landen te bezoeken dan dat het op zichzelf uitvoerig wordt behandeld, maar vanuit dat prikkelende uitgangspunt ontstaat genoeg voer voor de journalist om gesprekken aan te knopen met andersdenkenden. Echt de diepte gaat het nooit in.

Pleasant travel series, with a philosophical and culture-critical touch. The concept of 'the West' serves more as a motivation for Jan Leyers to visit exotic countries than it is discussed in detail in itself, but from that tantalizing premise enough fodder arises for the journalist to start conversations with dissenters. It never really goes into depth.
