Jan Leyers follows the trail of humanity. From Ethiopia, where we all come from, to the West, which has always seen itself as the pinnacle of civilization and culture. During his journey he is confronted with people and cultures that have very different values and norms than Western culture and who also have a strong opinion about it. Are we really still that prominent and attractive in the eyes of other cultures?

De Weg naar het Avondland season 1

Pleasant travel series, with a philosophical and culture-critical touch. The concept of 'the West' serves more as a motivation for Jan Leyers to visit exotic countries than it is discussed in detail in itself, but from that tantalizing premise enough fodder arises for the journalist to start conversations with dissenters. It never really goes into depth.
