Everything that made Mr Robot really interesting (social criticism, humor, convincing paranoia, autism, a good pace) is long gone this season. The only things that still intrigue a little are the Dark Army, Whiterose and the wacky Bobby Cannavale. Sleepwalking, the season drags on with many one-twos between Mr Robot and Elliot, and it's just getting through, but the plots don't stick despite the casualties and certain members of the cast like Grace Gummer just don't have enough charisma. Dynamics are totally lacking, many scenes just take place in 1 room with a lot of talk. Visually, there is also little more interesting to discover.
You get the idea that the series was launched with strong ideas for only a first season but that the cake has run out. They try to expose new layers in the power structure (seeming bosses turn out to be a puppet) to disguise a lack of depth and intrigue. Unfortunately. But that's how it goes with series. Sometimes they remain fascinating but the plug is pulled. And sometimes the series continue to exist but they don't interest you anymore. I haven't fallen asleep just yet after the first episode of season 4, but I definitely gave up.
