Forbrydelsen plot
Detective Inspector Sarah Lund is looking forward to her last day with the Copenhagen Police. She is moving to Sweden with her fiancé and will transfer to the Swedish police. Everything changes after a 19-year-old girl, Nanna Birk Larsen, is found, raped and murdered. Sarah and her colleague Jan Meyer are forced to investigate, and it soon becomes clear that they are hunting an intelligent and dangerous killer. Local politician Troels Hartmann is in the midst of a grueling election campaign to become Copenhagen's new mayor, when suddenly the evidence for the murder connects with him. At the same time, the girl's family and friends struggle with their loss.

The fight against crime is on the decline. At the time, Derrick and Columbo only needed fifty minutes to solve a case; today's detectives do twenty episodes. To keep it interesting for so long, they follow the chain principle. Each witness or suspect leads to the next link; every episode there's an incident or twist that keeps the steam going. The atmosphere is gray, there are many night scenes and they drink a lot of coffee.
Sofie Gråbøl plays Sarah Lund, an inspector who often wears the same sweater made of Faroese wool and doesn't care too much about procedural errors. Of course there is an inept superior who wants to take her off the case. Søren Malling plays a rougher type than usual, although after a while he commands sympathy.
An additional element of tension is the entanglement with Copenhagen's urban politics. During an election period, the candidates prefer not to get involved in a scandal. The mayor is an old crocodile who still manages to bite off. Lars Mikkelsen comes out of the shadow of his younger brother as a representative of the New Political Culture - but are his hands really that clean? Marie Askehave has a nice supporting role as his influential assistant and mistress Rie. On a private level, Bjarne Henriksen stands out in particular, as the victim's father and bully who likes to act on his own. With this, Scandinavia ousted the United Kingdom as the producer of the best crime series.

I also thought it was a really nice series, this season, but I think it could be reduced to 15 or something... it just takes too long. But... watched it all the way through, and exciting enough
