The Larkins plot
In the idyllic and beautiful Kent countryside, known as 'the garden of England', the Larkins have created a little piece of paradise where nothing is wasted and where they enjoy life to the fullest. The anti-authoritarian couple has six children, including the beautiful Mariette. Cedric "Charley" Charlton arrives in the village. He initially comes to investigate the Larkins' tax affairs, but is soon distracted by Mariette, with whom he begins a romance.
