Newhart plot
Writer Dick Loudon and his wife Joanna move from New York to a small town in Vermont to run the Stratford Inn inn. George Utley is their hard-working, slow-witted handyman. Talented and wealthy Leslie Vanderkellen briefly serves as a chambermaid to experience what it's like to be 'normal', then her spoiled, conceited and incompetent niece Stephanie succeeds her when her parents turn off the money tap. Opposite the Stratford Inn is the Minuteman Café. This is run by the chronic liar Kirk Devane.
