Anne and Erik Merz agree: the love has disappeared from their marriage over the years, the two want to break up and divorce. But reality throws a spanner in the works. On the one hand, there are the "usual" problems: The son is going through puberty, whose needs the parents also want to meet during the divorce. Then there is the house they share, which contains much of the family's possessions. Even more serious: Erik and Anne work together in Anne's father's company. He is also diagnosed with dementia, and to safeguard his life's work, he wants Erik to continue working for the company.
