It's Showtime! plot

The protagonist of the series is Kenny, who wants to make it in showbiz. For that, Kenny wants to try everything: magic, ventriloquism, singing and more. There is only one problem: Kenny has no talent. Kenny is helped in trying to achieve his dream by his family: the De Rouck family. To help Kenny break through, they roam fairs, compete in talent shows and even get involved with a dubious talent scout.

Goeie comedy van Bart De Pauw, voorlopig enkel te zien op Telenet. Ik heb de tien afleveringen nu maar gezien omdat HUMO zo vriendelijk was een maand Play More cadeau te doen, en heb flink kunnen genieten van de bonte personages. De cast is erg sterk, maar voor mij zijn het vooral Kevin Bellemans als de (om een fors understatement te gebruiken) nogal aparte aanhouder/stalker van Rebecca, en Tom Audenaert natuurlijk, die de flik Willy speelt, een type dat het niet zo nauw neemt met de lettertjes van de wet, als het hem of zijn vrienden maar goed uitkomt. Het verhaal is niet hoogstaand of zo, maar voor een comedy als deze hoeft dat ook niet. Wel ben ik, en dat vind ik dan veel belangrijker, regelmatig in een lachkramp geschoten, met de buikspreekact van Kenny in aflevering 5 als hoogtepunt. De finale viel, als ik eerlijk ben, een beetje tegen, maar alles goed en wel beschouwd is dit weer een meer dan fraai spinsel uit de koker van De Pauw. Laat ons hopen dat de openbare omroep deze serie, ondanks de hetze rond Bart De Pauw, toch nog gaat uitzenden, want we mogen zeker niet vergeten dat, naast De Pauw, ook een pak andere mensen bloed, zweet en tranen hebben laten vloeien om hier een succes van te maken. Ik vrees er alleen een beetje voor (ook al omdat De Pauw zelf een rol speelt in de serie). 4 sterren

Good comedy by Bart De Pauw, currently only available on Telenet. I've only seen the ten episodes now because HUMO was kind enough to give a month of Play More as a gift, and I was able to enjoy the colorful characters.

The cast is very strong, but for me it is mainly Kevin Bellemans as the (to use a big understatement) rather unusual persistent/stalker of Rebecca, and Tom Audenaert of course, who plays the cop Willy, a type that it doesn't take the fine print of the law, as long as it suits him or his friends.

The story isn't top-notch or anything, but it doesn't have to be for a comedy like this. Well, and I think that is much more important, I have regularly been thrown into a laughter, with Kenny's ventriloquist act in episode 5 as the highlight.

The final was, to be honest, a bit disappointing, but all in all, this is again a more than fine spin from De Pauw's sleeve. Let's hope that the public broadcaster will still broadcast this series, despite the smear around Bart De Pauw, because we must certainly not forget that, in addition to De Pauw, a lot of other people have also shed blood, sweat and tears to get here. to make it a success. I'm just a bit afraid of it (also because De Pauw himself plays a role in the series).

Prachtige serie van Vlaanderens beste TV-maker die helaas op basis van anonieme getuigenissen momenteel door zwaar weer gaat maar goed zo'n talent komt vast wel terug bovendrijven binnenkort.

Beautiful series by Flanders' best TV maker which unfortunately is currently going through heavy weather based on anonymous testimonials, but such a talent will probably surface again soon.
