Decline and Fall plot

Paul Pennyfeather, innocent victim of a drunken orgy, is kicked out of college, leaving him to forget his career in the Anglican Church. After some wandering, he lands a job at the grotesque private school Llanabba Castle. There he meets Best-Chetwynde's Margot, who introduces him to 'high society'. When he is about to marry Margot, he is arrested for alleged involvement in the trade in white slaves, the source of Margot's wealth.
