Crutch plot
Francois "Frank" Crutchfield, better known as "Crutch," is a brash but beloved shopkeeper in Harlem. His world is turned upside down when his intellectual son and free-spirited daughter return to their parents' house. His son, Jake, is an Ivy League lawyer who chooses a low-rent legal career over a well-paying position at a prestigious law firm. His daughter, Jamilah, brings her two children back home, causing quite a stir.
