Centuries ago, explorer Arne Saknussen found a subterranean passage. This tunnel would lead to the lost kingdom of Atlantis. Professor Lindenbrook rediscovered this trail and went on an expedition together with his niece Cindy, student Alec and the guide Lars with his duck Gertrude. But the evil Count Saknussen thinks he has only the right to follow the trail his ancestor once discovered. Together with his loyal helper Torg, he tries to take out the expedition, but it fails, blocking the entrance to the subterranean passage completely . There is no other way than to find another way out - perhaps this one can be found in Atlantis, the center of the earth? On their journey through the subterranean tunnel system, the expedition members are regularly surprised by the world that is underground and inhabited by many dinosaur-like monsters and primitive peoples.
