Diamant plot

Thomas has been married to Hester for thirty years and together they have three children: Anton, Marion and Boris. Anton is the most likely successor to his father and is married to Janneke. After a thorough preparation at the Nijenrode Institute, he is now working at the top of the company. Marion and Boris still live with their parents and experiment with everything their rich life has to offer. In their passion for each other, too, they explore the boundaries of their brother-sister relationship. The first hairline cracks appear in the family portrait when Thomas starts another secret affair with Eliza, whom he broke up with about 20 years ago. Eliza now has a growing son, Jeroen. When the family comes into possession of "The Blue Devil" through an unfortunate transaction, it seems that disaster can no longer be averted. This infamous and much too precious diamond has a reputation of bringing bad luck to its owner. The family does everything they can to get rid of the stone, which is not as easy as it seems. In the meantime, everyone is experiencing the influence of "The Blue Devil"...

Deze typische jaren '90 serie werd onlangs heruitgezonden op de Vlaamse zender CAZ. De cast bevat met onder andere Herbert Flack, Jan Decleir, Karel Deruwe, Tine Van den Brande en Ann Ceurvels het kruim van de Vlaamse acteurs uit die periode. Ook Jef Geeraerts, op wiens boek de serie gebaseerd is, kreeg een cameo. Ik herinner me dat dit indertijd door de veelvuldige seks- en geweldscènes als een revolutionaire serie gezien werd voor het brave Vlaamse publiek, maar 20 jaar later blijft daar weinig van over. Leuk om eens te zien, maar zowel qua opzet als qua taalgebruik (the n-word!) toch fel verouderd.

This typical 90s series was recently rebroadcast on the Flemish channel CAZ. The cast includes Herbert Flack, Jan Decleir, Karel Deruwe, Tine Van den Brande and Ann Ceurvels, the best of Flemish actors from that period. Jef Geeraerts, on whose book the series is based, also got a cameo.

I remember that at the time this was seen as a revolutionary series for the good Flemish public due to the frequent sex and violence scenes, but 20 years later little of it remains. Nice to see, but both in design and in terms of language (the n-word!) Still very outdated.
