James Gunn has recommenced the development of Peacemaker season two after the writer's strike concluded.
Gunn is one of the busiest men in Hollywood at the moment, as in addition to developing his own projects like Peacemaker and Superman: Legacy, he is overseeing the entire creative direction for the upcoming DC Universe, which will take place over various television shows and movies over the next 10 years or so.
The DC universe is being completely rebooted, but he did confirm that Peacemaker is one of three characters who will continue as planned, with John Cena returning in the role.
Gunn recently posted a video of Cena playing Bohemian Rhapsody on the piano during a day of filming on season one.
When asked by a fan when work will continue on season two, he responded: "Writing it Now".
Peacemaker was a huge critical success for Gunn and DC, with praise sent for the writing and the performances of the cast, particularly Cena as the titular anti-hero.
The DC executive previously confirmed that Peacemaker season two would come after his work on Superman: Legacy was completed.
In February of 2023, it was confirmed that Peacemaker had been renewed, and after hearing the news, Gunn said:
"Creating Peacemaker has been one of the true highlights of my life, both professionally and otherwise, with John Cena and the incredible creative team around me, as well as our partners at HBO Max.
"To have something we all love so much be loved by the audience in turn has been a wonderful experience. I can’t wait for folks to see where Team Peacemaker goes in season two."
