Which Buffy characters are returning for Slayers: A Buffyverse Story audio series?
The passionate fanbase of Buffy the Vampire Slayer rejoiced this week at the news that some of the main cast members are returning for a new audiobook series on Audible.
Buffy is one of the most beloved television shows of all time. Created by Joss Whedon and starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, the series received praise not only for the fantasy elements of the plot but also for how it addressed adolescence and becoming an adult which is why fans are so fiercely supportive of it.
The story continued with the spin-off Angel as well as various comic books after Buffy finished airing. Twenty years after the final episode aired, there will be an audio reunion titled Slayers: A Buffyverse Story.
It is written and created by Amber Benson, who played Tara in the series, alongside Christopher Golden.
Unfortunately, Gellar, Alyson Hannigan and Nicholas Brendon won't be returning as Buffy, Willow and Xander respectively.
However, we do have James Marsters (Spike), Charisma Carpenter (Cordelia), Anthony Stewart Head (Giles), Emma Caulfield (Anya) Benson (Tara) and Juliet Landau (Drusilla) all involved.
The official plot reads:
'The upcoming scripted audio original picks up 10 years after the events of the final episode of ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer.’ Since then, Spike (James Marsters) has gone deep undercover in Los Angeles, convincing the forces of darkness that he’s back to his evil ways. When his cover is compromised by sixteen-year-old Indira Nunnally (Laya DeLeon Hayes), Spike finds himself on baby-slayer-sitting duty once more. While he attempts to track down a watcher for his eager new protégé, their paths collide with the veteran Slayer of a parallel reality where Buffy Summers never existed...a reality where Cordelia Chase (Charisma Carpenter) is the one-and-only Slayer. She needs Spike’s help with a classic big bad terrorizing her world…his old flame, Drusilla (Juliet Landau).'
James Marsters is back as Spike
With Buffy not in this particular parallel universe, the major focus of the story will be on Spike, and Marsters is delighted to be back in his most famous role.
“I’m ecstatic to be back with my dear friends for this next chapter in the Buffyverse, as we take listeners on a familiar but unexpected journey chock full of horror, passion and mischief,” he said.
“I’m excited for old and new fans to experience this beloved world of vampire slaying like never before, brought to life through immersive audio storytelling.”
