The Secrets of Hillsong plot

For nearly a decade, the celebrity-friendly megachurch of Hillsong was the mecca of contemporary evangelical Christianity in America. Headed by Carl Lentz, an attractive and hyper-charismatic preacher, and based in New York's media mecca, Hillsong was the church of glossy magazine profiles, talk show hits, and tabloid fascination. Churchgoers flocked in their thousands to the weekly services of Lentz and his protégés, including his most celebrated follower, Justin Bieber, who lived close to Lentz and his family. After saving Bieber's soul, Hillsong skyrocketed in popularity for much of the 2010s. Until one day, everything fell apart.
