In the Netherlands, more than eighty thousand young people grow up in so-called problem families. For both the parents and the children there is an accumulation of all kinds of social, psychological and financial problems. These families are helped with their problems by an army of aid workers. In this documentary series, Sahar Meradji follows the stormy, desperate but also loving daily lives of three such troubled families. They show us how and why things go wrong, and how they do their best to recover.
