Rampvlucht plot

When on October 4, 1992, a Boeing 747 of the Israeli airline company El Al crashes into an apartment building in Amsterdam's Bijlmermeer, the Netherlands is suddenly world news. Almost all journalists and government employees have now returned to business as usual, except veterinarian Asha Willems and journalists Vincent Dekker (Trouw) and Pierre Heijboer (Volkskrant). Their persistent questions lead them into a six-year battle with the aviation world, secret services and the government, which eventually leads to the much-discussed parliamentary inquiry of 1998.

Rampvlucht season 1

My wife was watching the first episode and I followed him in the background for a bit. But from episode two I started watching him. A gripping series about the journalistic reconstruction of the Bijlmer disaster, focusing in particular on the health problems of residents and aid workers that they experienced after being present at the disaster site immediately after the disaster, and the search for the truth about what actually happened. had been on the plane which could cause those complaints, but which was kept secret all this time by the government (governments). The story is very captivating and the acting is excellent. Unfortunately, the outcome is unsatisfactory. But in reality he was. Nothing has really changed in politics. It's all backroom chatter. It is not for nothing that there is so little faith in politics. But yes, if Wilders, Baudet and that peasant man have to be the alternative, it won't get any better either.
But back to the series. I experienced the disaster very consciously through the media at the time and it made a big impression. Imagine that you are at home watching television and suddenly a plane flies into your house. I remember that thought the most from then. But I also remember the aftermath. The mysterious men in white suits and it turned out that there were so many illegal immigrants living in the Bijlmer at the time. An aspect that has been left out in the series. Just like the cause of the disaster. I have seen a reconstruction about the latter in that American series about aircraft disaster causes. A broken bolt was the reason if I remember correctly. A rather silly cause with very serious consequences.

Rampvlucht season 1

Intriguing and convincing Dutch drama series about the aftermath of the crash of the Boeing 747 of El Al in the Bijlmer in 1992. The first episode logically pays attention to the disaster and the chaos that ensues. It is the least of the five episodes. But Rampvlucht takes revenge.

Joy Delima (as veterinarian Asha Willems) makes her debut in Rampvlucht with her first leading role in a series. Where Delima is convincing and versatile in Dirty Lines, it seems that she does not fully understand her layered role in Rampvlucht during the first episodes. As if Delima as an actress is in doubt because of all the overwhelming events. The acting varies across the board, the biggest shortcoming of Rampvlucht. One of the positive exceptions is the role of experienced rotten Yorick van Wageningen, who delivers excellent work.

Disaster Flight addresses numerous themes; sadness, hope, political entanglements, racism, conspiracies, cover-ups and personal tragedies. It is a lot, partly because fact and fiction are also mixed up. But the series remains firmly in place thanks to the well-arranged scenario by Michael Leendertse (Flying Dutchmen). The chilly machinations of The Hague are beautifully rendered, which contrast perfectly with the sadness and defeat. Disaster Flight is therefore an impressive tribute to the at least 43 fatalities of that horrible Sunday evening, October 4, 1992. Just like the tree that saw everything, this is a series that everyone should see.
