The Legend of Vox Machina plot
A group of seven second-rate adventurers spend more time in the bar than traveling. In a desperate attempt to pay off a staggering debt to a bartender, the group ends up on a quest to save the realm of Exandria from fearsome monsters and evil magical powers. As they undertake this journey, the group members grow closer and closer to each other.

Well, when Covid-19 started and we started to sit at home more, I, as an avid Dungeons & Dragons enthusiast, fell completely under the spell of Critical Role (or as we call it here at home 'absurdly handsome people play our favorite game') and I was therefore really looking forward to how the animated series would be designed. Without the typical fun you have during a D&D session, the vocal performances of the cast come out extra well and Mercer's story holds up well. What makes the series extra nice: it is unrated violent. At first I was afraid that an Amazon might want to 'clean it up' for the general public, but nothing could be further from the truth: nudity, swearing and a huge amount of over the top violence are non-stop. Similar to Amazon's own Invincible or Netflix's Castlevania, it's not for the little ones. In my opinion one of the best animated series of recent times.

Very strong character development in this season, and a build up to a bigger story. The series improves, although the action - while still epic - sometimes becomes a bit too lavish and therefore far too implausible, fantasy or not.
