In 'Van Oekel's Discohoek', just like in Toppop, well-known and lesser-known Dutch but also foreign (pop) artists performed. The songs were obviously played back. Sjef van Oekel was assisted by the bookkeeper Ir. Evert vdPik, who sat at a desk in the studio and, among other things, paid the fees to the artists, but also gave the "hit tip". Evert always addressed Sjef as Mr. van Oekel. Sjef always said Evert, except when he was angry he would address him by his last name.
