Apocalypse: La 1ère Guerre Mondiale plot

Could the sacrifice of an entire generation have been prevented? How could such a cruel and devastating event have happened? How did men and women endure this atrocity for four years? Apocalypse WWI takes a strategic and global approach to answering fundamental questions, but also, and perhaps most importantly, the story is told from a sensitive and intimate human-level point of view. The story takes us to the heart of the battle, from the trenches in northern France to the lesser-known fronts of Russia, Serbia, Turkey and Palestine, as well as the everyday life of civilians behind the lines. The story brings to life the memories and experiences of these men and women and helps us better understand how yesterday's world was propelled into the apocalypse.

If you know little about the First World War, this is perhaps the best documentary there is and, disrespectfully, the best 'summary' there is. I recognized a lot of things because I myself watched all the episodes of the YouTube channel The Great War, which from 2014 released an episode every week looking back (in the style of this documentary) what happened 100 years before on the various fronts during WWI.

Maybe that's why I sometimes feel that they sometimes go through certain topics a bit quickly in Apocalypse: World War I and focus mainly on the Western Front. But hey, you don't get everything squeezed into 4 hours and 20 minutes. Despite that, the most important issues and the absurdity of this war are well covered and the personal stories in particular make an impression.
