Rust en Vreugd plot
After her husband Thomas's death, seventy-year-old Emma discovers that he has unexpectedly signed her up for a garden at the allotment complex "Rust en Vreugd." Initially, Emma lacks a green thumb and has little desire to garden. Nevertheless, she decides to take on the challenge, with her dog, Wadon, at her side.

Sublime series, beautifully acted and with strong characterizations that immediately bring most of the characters to life, although Arjan Ederveen was given slightly too little to do and Harm van Velsen could have looked a bit meaner – but that might have gotten in the way of the moving humanity the actor (Frans van Deursen) gets to display in the final episode. Actually, I wasn't really looking forward to this because I already understood that it revolves around (to put it bluntly) abuse of power that culminates in bullying people away, and that strikes a sensitive chord with me, but ultimately this series is about so much more that I watched all eight episodes with great pleasure (and emotion). Furthermore, I didn't find the rather shocking events in the final episode to be out of place. Wonderful lead performance by Annet Malherbe, and that little mustache of Ger's is perfect.
