The series investigates a notorious 2010 murder case in Louisville, Kentucky—the city where the disco ball was invented. After a 911 call, police discover the body of James Carroll in the wine cellar of a stately Victorian mansion in Old Louisville. The victim had been shot and stabbed seven months earlier, after which he had been hidden in a plastic storage bin. The home's resident, Jeffrey Mundt, and his then-boyfriend, Joseph Banis, point fingers at each other as the perpetrator in what the media dubbed "The Pink Triangle Murder." The series follows the separate trials of both men, featuring bizarre testimony, video footage, and allegations of a toxic relationship.
