In the year that the Groningen gas tap is finally closed, Winfried Baijens presents a four-part documentary series about the discovery of the gas field, the cheering all over the Netherlands, the economic booms that reach the sky and the consequences and aftermath for the residents. But Groningen is more than gas. The Earth Trembles is also a series about the people of Groningen themselves, the history, the country and the residents: the skies, melancholy, the high land and the old village centres.
