A Remarkable Place to Die plot
Police detective Anais Mallory returns to her hometown of Queenstown, New Zealand, where she is confronted with a series of shocking murders. She tries to solve the cases, but at the same time struggles with ghosts from her own past. She has to deal with her ex Luke, who is now married to her former best friend Maja. She also learns more about the mysterious death of her own sister.

A great New Zealand series. A series of crime stories with a common thread throughout the season involving Anais's father and sister. Everything comes to a conclusion except... yes, there's a cliffhanger, opening up a second season. The setting is beautiful, the acting is adequate. Yet, despite the well-crafted stories, there's a simple quality to the characters' behavior, which even carries over into the music. The running time isn't too long, making it an enjoyable watch.
