After taking a surprise dip in a cursed spring during a training trip to China, martial artist Ranma Saotome and his father Genma are no longer quite themselves. Now, Ranma transforms into a girl when he encounters cold water, and Genma transforms into a panda. Their new forms cause nothing but confusion at the Tendo dojo, where Soun Tendo is waiting to introduce one of his three daughters to Ranma—as his fiancée. Ranma Saotome and Akane Tendo's parents have long since arranged for their children to be married. Akane and Ranma, however, are less than thrilled about the idea—or each other.
