The Man with 1000 Kids plot

A group of families discover that the charming man they trusted is also the sperm donor for hundreds – or perhaps thousands – of other children around the world. The Hague sperm donor Jonathan Meijer was taken to court in 2023 by the Donorkind Foundation and a mother of one of his children. They stated that the donor has fathered at least 550 donor children 'and does not want to stop'. The miniseries zooms in on some stories of couples who came into contact with Meijer as prospective parents. They went into business with him - without knowing how many other children the donor had already fathered with his sperm. Their children may now face health risks later in life.

De donor heeft tegen de wensouders (en klinieken) gelogen over het aantal kinderen dat hij heeft verwerkt, terwijl hij wist dat dit van belang was bij hun keuze voor hem te kiezen als donor. In deze documentaire zijn er nog meer beschuldigingen die niet of nauwelijks onderbouwd zijn. Zo is er geen enkel bewijs dat hij zijn zaad vermengde met dat van een andere donor. Dit baseren ze op het verhaal van een anonieme man. Wie dit is en waarom hij dit vertelt wordt niet duidelijk. Er is geen enkele dna-test die bevestigt dat gezinnen die hem hebben gebruikt als donor een kind hebben gekregen die niet van Jonathan was. Er is ook geen enkel bewijs dat hij behoort tot een groepje racisten dat Afrika blanker wil maken. Dit baseren ze op het feit dat hij in Kenia was, dit zogenaamd niet zou kunnen betalen en hij van leeuwen houdt wat overeenkomt met de bijnaam van de racistische donor. Dit is echt heel suggestief allemaal. Met deze ongefundeerde suggestieve beschuldigingen gaat netflix wat mij betreft te ver en is Jonathan met recht verontwaardigd.

The donor lied to the intended parents (and clinics) about the number of children he has processed, while he knew that this was important in their choice to choose him as a donor.

In this documentary there are even more accusations that are unsubstantiated or barely substantiated. For example, there is no evidence that he mixed his sperm with that of another donor. They base this on the story of an anonymous man. It is not clear who this is and why he is telling this. There is no DNA test that confirms that families who used him as a donor had a child who was not Jonathan's.

There is also no evidence that he belongs to a group of racists that wants to make Africa whiter. They base this on the fact that he was in Kenya, supposedly could not afford this and he loves lions which matches the nickname of the racist donor. This is all really very suggestive.

In my opinion, Netflix goes too far with these unfounded suggestive accusations and Jonathan is rightly indignant.
