Vera plot

Chief Inspector Vera Stanhope lives in the North East of England. This workaholic lady won't let herself be boxed in. Dressed in her oversized dresses, usually paired with a pair of chunky wellies, she's the police team's terror. She is strict with almost everyone except her right-hand man Joe Ashworth. She's on top of every murder case in quiet Northumberland. The stern Chief Inspector may seem tough, but has a small heart. Combined with her bravery, cynical sense of humor and high intelligence, she tries to bring every case to a successful conclusion.

I don't think I missed an episode, and I'm sure I've seen some three times already. It's Blethyn, in particular, who does a fantastic job. The team around her always had fantastic actors, too. My favorite was definitely Kenny (Morrison). He was a bit of a stickler for the team.

Slightly less believable, of course, is that the team consists of at least ten people who are always there taking notes, but only about five of them actually speak or are spoken to. In real life, this wouldn't be possible, of course, but it was always, and still is, a pleasure to watch...
