The umpteenth variation on 'Making A Murderer' with questionable system errors in the justice system and almost a conviction based on prejudice. Here because of the disgusting sexism that victim Denise Huskins suffered because her case supposedly showed parallels with her own kidnapping from 'Gone Girl' (2014). But 'American Nightmare' (2024) remains on the surface as an unambiguous political pamphlet with clear heroes and villains. It may be important that such MeToo charges continue to be made, but they are all starting to look the same. Although I have enormous sympathy for Misty Carausu as a kind of Fargo character who embodies the absolute good in people.

It's bad if you tell the truth and they don't believe you, it's even worse if they basically believe you but that doesn't fit in with their own selfish, petty, own lying strategy, with indeed a "nightmare" for the victims.
A disturbing story that is presented quite chaotically in the beginning and, despite the strange theme, is not really convincing where police officers, lawyers, etc. have their say.
