The premise of 'DP' remains so wonderfully poetic: young soldiers must use their own conscription to arrest conscientious objectors. In fact, they have more in common with the deserters than with higher-ups. With each new arrest, they gain a deeper understanding that the army cannot guarantee the safety of its own soldiers. In this second season, it becomes even more obvious that the army acts as a criminal organization full of cover-ups and Kafkaesque hierarchies. Once again, a wonderfully diverse mix of different genre elements and styles. From the gruesome first episodes about a mass murder to crazy chases and martial arts fights. Even a bit of gothic horror in the episode about an outpost on the North Korean border. Nevertheless, 'DP' remains consistent from start to finish with melancholic and poignant musings about conscription traumas.
