Love, Death & Robots plot

Raging robots, werewolf soldiers, sensitized dairy products, garbage monsters, cyborg bounty hunters, alien spiders and bloodthirsty demons from hell. It's hard to imagine that they are featured in this anthology of genre and cross-border animated shorts.

I never actually write reviews about shorts, but for Jibaro I like to make an exception.

I already knew Mielgo from The Witness in the first part of the anthology, but here he takes a few extra steps forward. This is exactly the type of short film that draws me to the anthology work. One in which the director makes optimal use of the space and freedom to do what he feels like creatively.

Visually it is of course strong, sometimes it seems mixed with live action footage, but in the end that is the least interesting. I found the editing fascinating, especially the sound editing, which is very prominent. The fantasy elements are also wonderfully worked out, the underlying lore is mysterious and intriguing, and several scenes have burned into my retina.

A great trip this. Tomorrow I'll sign up for a 90 minute film like this, but as is often the case, that step will be a lot more difficult. 100% my kind of cinema this.

5.0* and a extensive review (but only for Jibaro).
