The first episode still brings tension and sensation and aroused genuine curiosity. From episode 2 my fear became reality that I had before. The cultural differences are too great to identify with the people there. That whole city of Dehli looks run down and that concept that it is very normal for three generations of family to live in one house is really terrible. But again very normal there. It's just such a completely different world than here and the people are so into religion that I can't do much with it.
That the entire family is ultimately cuckoo and has put an end to it itself is a logical consequence of a society that is far too religious. You always have nutcases that ramble on in there. The questions asked by the people in the documentary also feel weird. Yes, it makes sense to say that those people are extremely superstitious and you wonder how this got this far. But if those same people then use weird religious rituals at the cremation or jump half naked into a rancid river because of a ritual... Who's lost track?
The last 2 episodes didn't bring enough to really interest me. Much talk, but little more to say. Except for 1 man who sensibly says that he no longer believes in God since this event. No, you don't have to get rid of your faith from me. But I can really appreciate looking at something like this with some sobriety.
