Das Adlon. Eine Familiensaga spans a time span from the establishment of the hotel in 1904 to its reopening in 1997. The common thread is the life story of Sonja Schadt. As a close friend of Lorenz Adlon, Sonja's father, Gustaf Schadt, lends him the money to finance this expensive project. When Gustaf dies, a great mystery of the Schadt family comes to light. Deeply disappointed by her parents, Sonja, who is now 17, decides to move to her godfather Lorenz's hotel. In the turbulent and extravagant 1920s, the hotel is at its peak, with Sonja at the center. Together with Adlon she lives and survives many setbacks such as the stock market crash, dictatorship, war and destruction.
