Cobra Kai plot

Cobra Kai is set 30 years after the events of the All Valley Karate Tournament in 1984. Johnny Lawrence is about to reopen his infamous Cobra Kai karate dojo. This rekindles his old rivalry with Daniel LaRusso, who is trying to live his life without his mentor Mr. miyagi.

Although I think there is enough going on, there is also a lot of forced, so suddenly everyone has a relationship and is too much fussed about, it also becomes too much of a standard teen series with the usual soap instead of the fresh wind headwind against political correctness what it started with. The nuanced view on both camps keeps it interesting and the tension between them increases considerably. All in all a bit less than the first season.

The second season of Cobra Kai easily scores a pass, but nevertheless it is made clear that the makers do not quite know how to deviate from the basic format appropriately. For example, this series of 10 episodes contains more emphasis on the development of characters, which ultimately takes up too much time and therefore cannot build up an effective finale. The last episode nevertheless contains a nice fight and the acting is very decent, but this season mainly lacks the highlights and a bit more courage in the comic area to be able to compete with the previous season. The short episodes still provide light entertainment, but a bit more emphatically according to the book.
