The versatile Japanese cuisine is increasingly appearing in the streets of Dutch and European cities. Sushi has been known and popular for years, but nowadays you also see many restaurants with a different specialty: ramen, sashimi, yakitori, tempura or a nice piece of wagyu from the grill. It is not without reason that the relatively new taste term 'umami' comes from Japan, a combination of sweet, sour, salty and bitter. A combination of all flavors. To get a closer look at and discover the origins of all this, Miljuschka travels to Japan. Here she visits the culinary hotspots of Japan and she goes in search of unknown stories behind dishes and ingredients.
