This comic series was extremely popular at the time. However, I had never seen this first season. dr. Van der Ploeg was apparently a widow, but starts a steady relationship with Dr. Lansberg, played by the skinny, cheerful Manfred de Graaf. Their socially engaged daughter Nancy (Renée Soutendijk) still lives at home in the first two seasons. This gives rise to the treatment of current themes such as housing shortage, women's emancipation and animal rights. Despite the problems that are discussed, there is an optimistic atmosphere.
Carry Tefsen will forever be identified with housekeeper Mien Dobbelsteen. This flapper became the most popular character. Part of the humor is in the way she scrambles words and comments on everything. Her husband Koos (John Leddy) is a good folk. It is not a class society; doctor and housekeeper are friendly. Piet Hendriks has a funny supporting role as the little man who is always in the waiting room, although he does not look sick.
Occasionally there is an outdoor scene, but most of it was shot in a TV studio with a limited number of sets. Typical 80s are aerobics and cassette tapes. Dialogues and characters are well developed. You hear a laughing and applauding audience. Ruud Bos's jazzy tune remains fun.
