When Harrison Ford was announced as the latest A-list actor to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, fans went crazy at the prospect of seeing the actor portray General Thaddeus Ross in Captain America: Brave New World.
William Hurt sadly passed away in March of 2022 after portraying Ross in a handful of MCU projects including The Incredible Hulk and Captain America: Civil War.
In the comic books, General Ross actually becomes the Red Hulk, so it is possible that Ford will play a major villain in the new Captain America.
It has since been revealed that Ross is the President of the United States in Brave New World, which was previously named New World Order.
When asked by ComicBook.com if Ford will eventually become the Red Hulk, Marvel Studios' Vice President of Production Nate Moore replied:
"I mean, I think you're going to have to wait and see. You know what I mean? But Harrison Ford, we couldn't be more excited. Obviously, when you have Han Solo or Indiana Jones involved in your movie, it just raises the game. So, we're excited to see Mackie and Harrison Ford in scenes together. I think it's going to be fantastic."
Funnily enough, Ford himself was recently asked about Red Hulk and he replied: "What is the Red Hulk?"
Sam Wilson is the new Captain America
With Steve Rogers retiring as Captain America following the events of Avengers: Endgame, Sam Wilson has subsequently taken up the shield and he will feature as Cap in Captain America: Brave New World.
Moore says it is important that Anthony Mackie's portrayal of Captain America is different from that of Chris Evans'.
"I think, he's not Steve Rogers and I think that's a good thing," he said on the Phase Zero podcast.
"Because to me, this new Cap is Rocky. He's going to be the underdog in any situation. He's not a super soldier. He's not a hundred years old. He doesn't have the Avengers. What happens with this guy who announces publicly kind of, without the support, 'I'm new Captain America.' What happens next?
"I think is fascinating because he's a guy. He's a guy with wings and a shield, but he is a guy. So, we're going to put him through the wringer and make him earn it, and see what happens when he is outweighed, outclassed, out-everything. What makes somebody Captain America? I'm going to argue it's not being a super soldier.
"And I think we're going to prove that with Mackie and Sam Wilson."
