Jamie Foxx's comedy, All-Star Weekend, will likely never see the light of day due to the fact that Robert Downey Jr. features in the movie as a Mexican man.
All-Star Weekend tells the story of two friends, played by Foxx himself and Jeremy Piven, who embark on a cross-country road trip after winning tickets to the NBA All-Star game.
On the journey, they meet an array of colourful characters.
Including, reportedly, Downey Jr. playing a Mexican. The Ironman actor infamously played a black man in Tropic Thunder and actually received an Academy Award nomination for his performance.
Foxx has completed most of the post-production, but it is unlikely the movie will be released.
"It’s been tough with the lay of the land when it comes to comedy," he told CinemaBlend.
"We’re trying to break open the sensitive corners where people go back to laughing again… We hope to keep them laughing and run them right into All-Star Weekend because we were definitely going for it.
He previously spoke of his first conversation with Downey Jr. about the role.
"I need you to play a Mexican," Foxx told his fellow actor.
"I said, ‘Sh*t, you played the Black dude and you killed that sh*t.’ We got to be able to do characters."
Five years of work gone
Piven has praised Foxx for his work on the movie, though previously said Foxx "doesn't want" to release it.
“It’s one of those things where Foxx is probably the most talented guy I’ve ever been around, known, heard of," he added.
"He’s the funniest guy in the room. He can sing.
"There’s nothing Foxx can’t do. I had the time of my life… Foxx is really hard on himself. He’s one of these dudes, you know, he wants it to be perfect, so he’s been holding onto this thing for five years.”
