Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is one of the most anticipated movies of 2023, with Harrison Ford set to play Indy for the very last time.

The Indiana Jones series is one of the most beloved franchises of all time and the first four movies were all directed by Steven Spielberg, who remains an executive producer on Dial of Destiny, which will be directed by James Mangold.

In the four movies so far - Raiders of the Lost Ark, Temple of Doom, Last Crusade and Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - Indy has had a female companion.

Marion appeared in Raiders of the Lost Ark and Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Willie was in Temple of Doom, while Elsa was the lover and foe of Last Crusade.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge will play the main female role in the new movie, but she says it is very different to what we have seen before.

"I think they really achieved something extraordinary: she fits into the canon, and she feels like there is certainly an energy that she shares with all the characters that have come before, especially with the female parts, but she is unique, and she has a fresh voice," the Fleabag actress told Total Film.

"She was somebody who was mysterious from the off. I think (Indy's) often been the mystery to these characters before, especially his female counterparts, and I think there's something really unusual in how they flip that here."

Waller-Bridge will play Indy's goddaughter, Helena Shaw. According to Mangold, she acts as the catalyst for the events of the film.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny has been confirmed as Ford's last outing as the whip-wielding hero.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny trailer

The new trailer, and the new title, were debuted at Brazil Comic Con.

Within the first sneak peek, we see a few very interesting plot points such as the return of John Rhys Davies as Sallah. Indeed, Sallah provides the voiceover for the beginning of the trailer.

We also see the first image of Ford with the de-ageing technology used as the movie's opening will reportedly take place in Nazi Germany.
