The plot of Superman: Legacy is naturally shrouded in mystery at this point, but an official synopsis from Warner Bros. has given fans an insight as to what the movie will be about.
The synopsis reads:
'Superman: Legacy tells the story of Superman's journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.'
Not giving much away there, but what is clear is this will be an early version of the character.
James Gunn is writing and directing the project, which will kick off a new DC movie universe.
Following the restructuring of DC Comics at the creative and executive level, any plans for Man of Steel star Henry Cavill to return as Superman were scrapped despite his cameo appearance at the end of Black Adam.
When a fan asked on BlueSky if the movie would address Superman's origins, Gunn responded:
"I think we've seen his origin enough in film at this time!"
Who is playing Superman?
It has been confirmed that David Corenswet will play Superman, while Rachel Brosnahan has been cast as Lois Lane.
