The first two movies in the Miles Morales animated saga were massively successful, but what do we currently know about Spider-Man Beyond The Spiderverse?
Spider-Man Beyond The Spiderverse Synopsis
As confirmed by JustWatch, the synopsis for Spider-Man Beyond The Spiderverse is as follows: "The Spider-People task force must rescue Miles from Earth 42 and defeat the Spot.
"With Miles trapped in Earth 42, Spider-Gwen assembles a task force of Spider-People to save him from the alternate dimension. Can they save Miles and defeat the Spot once and for all?"
Spider-Man Beyond The Spiderverse Cast
Several pivotal stars in the first two instalments will be making their way back for part three, including Shameik Moore, who will once again voice Miles Morales (Spider-Man), Hailee Steinfeld as Spider-Gwen, Jake Johnson as Peter Parker, Karan Soni as Spider-Man India, Daniel Kaluuya as Spider-Punk, Nicolas Cage as Spider-Man Noir, John Mulaney as Spider-Ham, and Kimiko Glenn as Peni Parker.
Oscar Isaac will also be returning as Spider-Man 2099, Issa Rae as Spider-Woman, and Mahershala Ali reprising his role as Miles’ Earth 42 uncle, Aaron Davis, and Jason Schwarzman, who returns as villain the Spot.
Miles G. Morales
The official X/Twitter account @Spiderverse put out an intriguing teaser on March 6th 2024, showing the Spider-Man and Prowler logos with the caption: "Miles Morales vs. Miles G. Morales."
There's no official indication as of writing that we could see the battle take place on the silver screen, but it was certainly alluded to in the previous film and something that fans have been clamouring to see since.
Rumoured Release Date
Unfortunately, the film was pushed back 'indefinitely' back in February 2024.
Speaking to Digital Spy in August 2023, writer/producer Christopher Miller confirmed that they're back in production following the resolution of the actors' strike: "We're really excited about where the story is going. I think it's a very satisfying conclusion to the trilogy and it's as emotional as the other ones. We're knee-deep in it."
When asked however what the likely release date would be for the film, he remained more coy, stating: "Those conversations are thankfully above our pay grade, but I can tell you we're already hard at work on it, and we'll take the time it takes to make it great."
So while it does appear to be set for a release at some point, we have absolutely no idea right now when that will be, with some estimations coming in for 2025-2026 at the earliest.
