Jack Reacher star Alan Ritchson says he is "honoured" to be linked with the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman.
The new Batman movie, titled The Brave and the Bold, will feature the live-action debut of Damien Wayne, Batman's son who is initially introduced as a villain but eventually becomes Robin. In this Caped Crusader story, Bruce Wayne had a child with Talia al Ghul whom he was not told about for years.
It is set to be part of the new DC Universe which will be overseen by James Gunn and is a separate entity from Matt Reeves' The Batman series, with The Batman: Part II set to be released in 2025.
Robert Pattinson plays Bruce in The Batman, but he will not reprise the role for The Brave and the Bold, which has led to speculation as to who might don the cowl, and some fans have been dream casting Ritchson.
"The fact that people are interested in me playing Batman is a real honor and privilege," the Fast X and Jack Reacher actor told the Post Cred Podcast. "It's one of the first characters I fell in love with as a child: I still remember the big, long pistol coming out of Joker's pants as he goes to shoot down the Batplane.
"Those iconic moments really resonated with me as a child. For there to even be a conversation or a rumour mill surrounding this role, for me… all I can do is laugh. I just think it’s wild that’s where we are. I would love to. I would absolutely love to (play Batman)."
Ritchson is no stranger to portraying comic book characters, either, as he played Arthur Curry/Aquaman in Arrow and Hank Hall/Hawkman in DC's Titans TV show.
Bruce Wayne has not been cast in the DC Universe
Gunn was recently forced to shut down rumours that Bruce Wayne had already been cast - as there isn't even a script yet!
"Keep getting this question, don't know where it's coming from but, wherever it is, it's totally false. We don't have a script yet," he said on Threads when asked if a new Batman had indeed been cast.
