The War of the Worlds remake has been a disaster for Amazon, critically speaking.

The reboot of the sci-fi classic, starring Ice Cube and Eva Longoria, is actually currently the number one movie on Amazon Prime Video but the reviews have been savage, as it currently has a rare 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Cube plays Will Radford, a security analyst for the United States government who must deal with an impending alien invasion, while also trying to uncover a conspiracy.

Here's what the critics have been saying...

War of the Worlds reviews

"I really don't like how a lot of modern reviewers say outlandish statements like 'This is the worst movie ever made'. Mainly because it devalues films like War of the Worlds, who had to work really hard to actually be one of the worst movies ever made." - Adam Olinger of Adam Does Movies.

"The idea of a screenlife adaptation of War of the Worlds is actually pretty interesting, but they get nearly everything wrong—from the weak cast and messy plot to the flimsy alien reveals and shameless product placement. It’s simply awful." - Sean Chandler of Sean Chandler Talks About.

"It’s noteworthy because of all the attempts to adapt this story, this is the worst one." - Joshua Tyler of Giant Freakin Robot.

"Hilariously bad, until it becomes risibly ridiculous. ... A 90-minute infomercial for Amazon." - Peter Martin of Screen Anarchy.

"Even with a Prime subscription, you have to sit through two minutes of ads to watch 90 more of what amounts to a feature-length commercial for all things Amazon." Peter Debruge of Variety.

"Failing to muster any meaningful suspense from its misguided gimmick, this reimagining of the classic H.G. Wells science-fiction saga becomes more ridiculous as it goes along." Todd Jorgensen of Cinemalogue.

"Told entirely through screens and digital devices, this 'screenlife' thriller tries to bring H.G. Wells’ classic into the tech era, but not only fails at being entertaining, but fails at being a movie itself." - Patrick Beatty of ABC4 Utah.
