Marvel confirms NEW Fantastic Four cast for Marvel Cinematic Universe

It has been a long time coming, but Marvel have finally announced who will play the Fantastic Four in the MCU.

There have been two attempts to kick off a successful Fantastic Four franchise, first in 2005 and then in 2015 with a new group of actors. Neither were critically well received, while 2015's version of the Fantastic Four was a box office bomb.

Rumours started a couple of years ago that Marvel were planning on bringing the characters into the MCU for the first time, and they have finally found their stars to bring the First Family to life.

Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach have been cast as Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm respectively.

Deadline reported in November that Pascal had been approached to play Richards and that he would be cast if his scheduling would allow.

Kirby, meanwhile, has been linked with the role of Sue Storm for ages.

When asked at the premiere of Napoleon about those casting rumours, she responded:

“I don’t know, you’ll have to ask them. I would be very honoured to join.”

Kirby was asked a similar question at the premiere of Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One and provided a similar answer months ago.

"I love the MCU universe and yeah, it would be an honour to join them," she said.

"And I really love Kevin (Feige, Marvel Studios CEO). I think he's a visionary. All I can say is that it would be an honour to join them (the MCU) in any element."

Fantastic Four to start shooting in 2024

The writer and actor strikes postponed production on Fantastic Four, but director Matt Shakman promised that shooting would commence in 2024 and claimed the movie would be nothing like anything Marvel has ever done previously.

"It's different in so many ways," he revealed.

"I wish I could be specific. I wish I could say more. But we are doing things very differently from a story standpoint, from an approach to the filmmaking standpoint, that really fits the material. I wish I could say more. I would love to, but I can't. But I think it's going to be unlike anything you've seen before, and certainly unlike anything at Marvel that you've seen before."
